The Joint Victorian Chemical Engineering Committee (JVCEC) have requested MMI to make a technical presentation on the evening of Tuesday 12th April, 2016. This group is made up of IChemE members and Engineers Australia (EA) local branch members – they meet regularly throughout the year at the Engineers Australia building in Melbourne’s central business district.
JVCEC initially approached MMI’s Principal Consultant based in Melbourne, Garry Law, who is well known to the IChemE committee and IChemE Safety Centre. Garry will join forces with Mike Docherty, a Senior Consultant for Passive Fire Protection (PFP), also based in Melbourne, to deliver a presentation entitled “PFP, Whose Responsibility Is It?” The aim is to raise awareness of the specification, application, maintenance and replacement strategies available for PFP over the lifetime of a typical Oil and Gas or Petrochemical facility. It also aims to illustrate how PFP is a combined effort between design, plant engineering, operations and maintenance teams, with help from consultants and manufacturers, to ensure that performance requirements are met. This presentation draws on similar messages presented by MMI Senior Consultants, Paul Heierman-Rix and Mike Docherty, to The Joint Western Australian Chemical Engineering Council (JWACEC) in Perth last October.
