The Board of Directors for Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. has elected Peter Zeeb, Ph.D., P.G., LSP, as President & CEO of the firm. Zeeb succeeds Rudolph Bonaparte, Ph.D., P.E., F. ASCE, NAE, who has served in that role for the last 20 years.

“Healthy succession planning and implementation are vital to the long-term multi-generational success of our firm. Our CEO transition is part of a continuous process designed to maintain the vitality, competitiveness, and independence of our firm for many years to come. Peter has demonstrated his passionate and complete commitment to the success and well-being of our firm and its employees in his 17 years with Geosyntec,” said Bonaparte. “The Board elected Peter because his personal values and ethics are superb and consistent with the firm’s mission and vision. An expert practitioner, his personal career also embodies our sell-manage-do culture, and he is a role model that motivates and inspires those around him. Peter’s ability to think in an analytical, thoughtful, and clear-minded way and to logically and decisively evaluate and address opportunities and challenges gives the Board confidence he will continue Geosyntec’s tradition of technical and client service excellence.”

“I am honored and grateful to have the confidence of my colleagues, and to lead some of the most talented and motivated scientists and engineers in the world,” said Zeeb. “The teamwork and goodwill amongst our employees, combined with technology leadership and practice innovation, are the foundation for delivering solutions of exceptional value to our clients. These traits, teamwork, goodwill, technical leadership, and innovation, are also what makes me so energized to lead Geosyntec.”

Zeeb joined Geosyntec in 1999, and is now a Senior Principal Hydrogeologist based in Massachusetts. He received his Ph.D. in environmental engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his M.S. in the same field from Stanford. For more than 25 years, his practice has focused on the evaluation and remediation of some of the most challenging contaminated sites in the country, with an emphasis on hydrogeological investigations, chemical fate and transport studies, remedial strategy development/alternatives analyses, pilot test design and implementation, and full-scale remedy design. Zeeb has also served as a technical expert in a number of high-profile environmental litigation cases. His management responsibilities at Geosyntec have included serving as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee since 2009 with oversight of operations in the northeastern United States, Canada, and Europe.

Bonaparte will continue in a substantive leadership role as Chairman of the Board and as a practicing professional in the firm. He has also been named a Professor of Practice (part-time) at the Georgia Institute of Technology. “I continue to have a lot of professional energy and passion, and my commitment to the company is as strong as ever. I envision a very active, engaged role for myself for many years to come,” said Bonaparte. “Looking back over my tenure as President & CEO, much of my effectiveness and success derived from the support and goodwill of my colleagues. I am confident that Peter will enjoy that same support and that our colleagues will help him as much as they have helped me.”
