The presentation will outline the process and techniques for the design, procurement, supply and integrity management of PFP across the asset life cycle, including hazard identification, materials selection, optimising, detailing, installation, inspection, maintenance and repair. While the talk will primarily focus on PFP measures used in the oil and gas industry, it should also be of general interest to structural engineers working in other sectors where fire protection is a consideration.
This evening presentation will take place on Tuesday 29th September at Royal Society of Edinburgh, 22-26 George Street, EH2 2PQ.

About the Speakers:
Edward Walker has more than thirty five years’ experience in the development, testing, design, specification, supply, application and inspection of PFP systems, for both offshore and onshore plant. With MMI, he has been involved with projects in research and development of PFP systems, studies and assessment of PFP on large storage vessels, PFP engineering, procurement and construction support contracts, PFP information management support contracts, and PFP integrity management projects.
Dr. Ruirui Sun started working for MMI Engineering’s Aberdeen office as a Project Engineer after he received his PhD in structural fire engineering from University of Sheffield. His areas of expertise are in structural design and analysis against extreme loads. He has published over 20 papers in journals and conference proceedings. With MMI, he has been involved in analysis and assessment of various structures (offshore platforms and large vessels) subjected to accidental loads such as fire, blast and ship impact.
